Released as a single in 1977, it reached #32 on the Billboard Hot 100, #18 on Black Singles chart, and #2 on the Dance/Disco chart. The flute player Bobbi Humphrey appears in the last section of the song.
The song has been covered by a few singers, including Caron Wheeler and Kathy Sledge.
Urbie Green covered the song on his 1976 album The Fox (CTI Records).
In 1995, urban jazz saxophonist Najee covered the song for his Stevie Wonder tribute album "Songs from the Key of Life."[1]
In 1999 Salomé De Bahia recorded a successful cover in Portuguese by the name "Outro Lugar", with production duties by French Dj/producer Bob Sinclar.
